Ten out of ten for McGinn as Druids end on a high
CHRIS McGinn's tenth goal of the season ensured that NEWI Cefn Druids ended the season on a
high as his strke proved to be the difference against Haverfordwest County.

McGinn pounced a minute before the break as he latched on to a poor back pass from Chris O'Sullivan.
His first tounch intercepted the intended pass and then, with his second, calmly slotted the ball past the
                              advancing Lee Idzi.

The victory was no more than Druids deserved as they restricted the visitors to nothing more than half chances in front of goal.

A weak overhead kick from Jack Christopher was easily held by Chris Mullock after ten minutes before, at the other end, Osian Jones' cross-field run ended with a left-footed shot was held by Idzi at the second attempt.

Druids' appeals for a penalty were turned down in the 29th minute when it had appeared that Karl Connolly was brought down in the box.

Four minutes later it was the visitors who came close to taking the lead when Lee Hudgell's header hit the side netting.

In the 42nd minute Waynne Phillips broke up a Haverfordwest move midway inside his own half. After his lay off to Jones, he continued his run forward and got a return pass on the edge of the box. His lob beat Idzi, but went narrowly wide of the left hand post.

The let off was only temporary, though, for County, as McGinn pounced just before the break.

He could have got his second of the game ten minutes after the interval when the ball found him in space on the back post, but he could only fire over the bar.

He had another chance two minutes later when a good left wing cross from Joe Price found McGinn, but his low header lacked pace and Idzi was able to keep the effort out on his line.

It was Price who next came close for Druids on the hour when a good move down the right saw Aaron Aby's cross be met by a header from Price, but it went narrowly wide.

At the other end, Christopher's dummy allowed Luke Robinson a shot on goal, but Mullock got down well to save.

Mullock's long clearance on 69 minutes found McGinn on the edge of the visitors' box and his attempted lob forced Idzi to backpedal towards his own line, but was able to keep out the effort.

Aby came close to opening his account for the club with quarter of an hour but his effort went narrowly high and wide of the near post.

With three minutes remaining, Idzi made a good save to deny Connolly's well-placed header from Khoz Hematinafar's cross.

But, with seconds remaining, Mullock was called into action once more to comfortably hold Robinson's hook shot and ensure Druids finished the season with a victory - much to the delight of the home support, which included the vociferous Mardon Hall Druids.
