Druids to keep NEWI name
THE 2008/09 season will see Cefn Druids AFC keep the NEWI name despite changes at the Wrexham based University.

The Queen has given royal assent, on the advice of the Privy Council, to give NEWI full university status.
As a result NEWI will now be known as Glyndwr University, named after Owain Glyndwr - the last Welsh Prince of Wales, scholar and visionary for the country.

However, as the royal assent was given after the Welsh Premier League's deadline for name changes, any alteration to the Druids name will not take place until 2009/10.

The newly named Glyndwr University is currently in a period of transition and the NEWI name is still being used in some situations. The university will be communicating the changes as appropriate throughout the coming months.
