Khoz double sends Druids through to final
KHOSROW Hematinafar's late brace sent NEWI Cefn Druids through to the final of the NEWFA
                                    Under-19s Cup Final.

Hematinafar's double came in the final ten minutes of a game of relatively few chances and had been looking set for extra time.

His first came with eight minutes remaining when Josh Russell's right wing free-kick was contolled by Gary Tebble six yards out, allowing the Iranian-born winger to fire home from close range.

Then, three minutes later, a defensive slip allowed Hematinafar to home in on goal, and round Daniel Billington in the visitors' goal before calmly slotting into the empty net.

Until then the match had been a tense, close affair, unlike the first leg ten days earlier.

The first clear chance of the game came to Druids after 19 minutes following good play between Hematinafar and Russell. The ball was played into Chris Buxton 18 yards out, but he shot wide.

Ten minutes later, though, the deadlock was broken and it was Druids who took the lead when Billington was left stranded on the edge of his area, allowing Tebble to be played in to slot the ball past the last defender on the line to put the young Ancients back in front on aggregate.

The lead only lasted three minutes when Brymbo were awarded a controversial-looking penalty. A right wing corner was cleared off the line, but only as far as a visiting forward who seemd to stumble under pressure before handling the ball as he fell. However the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Damien Jones made no mistake in beating Daniel Binnersley to level the scores.

Druids had a major let-off after 58 minutes when a defensive slip by Jack Smith allowed Matthew Harrison to go through on goal. His shot beat Binnersley, but rebounded back off the foot of the post.

Five minutes later and it was Druids who hit the woodwork. Joe Price's free-kick was spilled by Billington and Dan Barnett fired the loose ball against the underside of the bar.

The turning point came in the 82nd minute when Michael Latham's run was unceremoniously ended by Michael Hooson's lunge, which saw him booked, allowing Russell and Tebble to set up Hematinafar to restore the lead before killing off the tie three minutes later.

Druids under-19s will now face Gresford or Garden Village in the final at Rhos Aelwyd's Ponciau Banks on Tuesday 13 May with kick-off at 6.30pm.
