Price to start as season draws to close
LEE Jones was keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of Saturday's final match of the season when Haverfordwest County visit Plaskynaston Lane.

All that the Druids joint player-manager would reveal was the Joe Price would make his first start after making impressive appearances from the substitutes' bench.

Jones said: "Joe deserves it. He's done well when he's come in. The young lads, such as Khoz Hematinafar and Aaron Aby have had their chance and taken it. Now it's Joe's turn.

"We've got one or two teams in mind. Everyone who is fit will be reporting. It'll be a last minute job but, whatever team we select, we'll be going out to win the game."

He added: "We want to finish as high as we can. If we win and Newtown lose, we finish 12th. We don't want to lose and Caernarfon overtake us.

"We don't want it to be like last week and have it as a typical end of season game with the players going through the motions.

"There are three points up for grabs tomorrow and there is plenty to play for."

While he and Waynne Phillips are focused on finishing the season on a high, Jones admitted that their attentions are already on next season and Saturday's game could give a glimpse of that.

He said: "We're looking to next year already. The future of some of the lads will be there for the taking.

"We're not looking to release anyone. It's up to them if they want to fight for their place next season.

"We'll be hoping to bring in three or four players during the summer.

"If the players want to play for us for footballing reasons, then that's great. If it's just for the money then we don't want them here. We'll suss them out."

He added: "Everyone will start with a clean slate in July when everyone reports for pre-season training.

"We know there's players who want to come to us. But we'll look to sort that out once tomorrow's over."
