DREW DOUBLE DISALLOWED IN DRUIDS DEFEAT
ELEMENTS Cefn Druids Reserves suffered a double blow as two Drew Wickens headers were ruled out as Steve Buxton’s side lost 1-0 at Rhos Aelwyd.

The central defender’s first effort was disallowed when he rose highest to head home a free-kick, only for the referee to rule him offside.

Then, against the run of play, Rhos took the lead when a wicked bounce deceived Jack Smith and the striker’s attempted powerful shot was sliced, catching out Sean McNee as the ball went into the opposite corner of the net from the one that was aimed for.

MANAGER HAPPY WITH OPEN PLAY DESPITE LOSS
WAYNNE Phillips bemoaned Elements Cefn Druids' defending from set pieces but admitted that, despite that, he was happy with his side's performance in open play against Llanelli.

The Ancients lost 5-2 to the Welsh Premier League leaders with four of the goals coming from set pieces - a corner, two long throws and a free kick - which disappointed the joint player-manager.

Phillips said: "Four goals came from set pieces. We knew before the game that was their biggest threat and it proved to be the difference between the two teams, which was disappointing because of those four goals."
